Saw this in the
Scoblefeed this morning:
ADVERTISEMENT: Seagate hard drives rock. I was paid to say that, but I would have said it anyway.
There were a few people asking if this was in fact a paid Ad, reply was (does one leave the reply-to addresses in or out? - I've adopted for out for now):
....I am just having a little fun getting a conversation about microblog advertising going.
....of course it won't drive Seagate sales. That's why it won't work to advertise that way.
....actually my Seagate contract doesn't say anything about Twitter or FriendFeed. Should it tho?
Its an interesting zeitgeist - last night I wondered (aloud) in Twitter if the PR industry input was increasing, as I am seeing a rising number of posts that look suspiciously like people pimping stuff a la PR mode.
Beware guys (and gals), PR can kill the things you love most - switchoff is but a keystroke away...... and its for that reason that I don't think direct in feed Ads will work. In feed PR is another think as its more subtle, but there are about 6 people (all US bloggers by the way) who I've looked at askance recently and thought - hmm - thats a pimp.
You are on switchoff warning, it is very visible in a Twitter stream.
