One of the areas in
VRM that needs fleshing out is how the market environments may work, and I've been fascinated by examples of existing C2B (Customer to Business) markets - and one of the most interesting ones was Etsy's
Alchemy.
In essence it allows the customer to specify what they want, and a guide price, and a due date. Suppliers bid to do it (or not).
What is interesting is that it was culled in Etsy version 2 in mid 2006, but by (apparently) popular demand has now been brought back. (tip of hat to
A VC for the notification)
