So, Mr Scoble is
back in after 24 hours, with a nice letter from Facebook:
Our standard process for handling cases when an account is disabled for security violations is to allow a user to appeal and remedy the situation. This is the process we have followed here. Since you contacted us and have agreed not to run the script again, we have reactivated your account.
Mr Scoble may choose to believe this is due to the rightness of his cause (which is dubious to say the least), but we strongly believe this is purely a PR exercise. We too were thrown off Facebook (see
here) and when we enquired why we were met with silence - this was our RFI response:
Some queries:
i) I had actually set up a copy of Broadstuff on the Pages as soon as it became available, but access to that is also still denied, can you re-enable this? As the email I use is my company email, can I use that to set up the same thing again?
ii) Can I change the name of my account to my name?
iii) If access is to be denied, can you please assure me that all data will be deleted in accordance with UK Data Protection laws
iv) There was a very public case about a political blog called Jon Swift that you did allow to carry on, how does that case differ from ours?
Seems like a reasonable set of questions, no? Did we get a 24 hour response?...you must be joking - I've not heard a peep yet, and that was sent on the 26/11 with two follow up mails. Mind you, after learning about Beacon, I guess question (iii) is a tough one to answer
Anyway, Life Lesson - the justness (or not) of your cause pales into insignificance beside the PR you can drum up!
Story of modern life, really...........................
