How Can We Develop an Environment in which Mobile Web can Flourish?

I will be speaking on a panel at the MAPOS Event on Wednesday 5th in the pm, covering this topic. The issue has been beautifully summarised by Alex Kerr on the Mobile Monday London Yahoo group (I love Web 1.0 social nets, they send emails to me with the text included - hooray!)

Sez Alex:

Honestly...it's bloody obvious why consumer uptake of mobile data services is
poor, or slow, or whatever. If we produce complete crap, make it difficult to
access, and charge the earth for it, should we be surprised?

That's pretty much my position, except Alex forgets to mention that its a walled garden - should be an interesting afternoon
