Um... actually, It does have wifi. And has a better wifi user experience than any other device on the market. Fact-cheking, anyone?
And Skype calls? A dog whistle. Not only is there no point, given the number of bundled minutes (and don;t talk about international calls - which are Actually, I said it won't hook into any WiFi network going - the deal is with The Cloud.
Re Skype calls - are you kidding? - I, and many SOHO/SME companies, are huge users of Skype. Laptop + Skype is The Road Warrior combo, man! So what other wifi did you have in mind?
And Skype - no, I'm not kidding. Skype on mobile is not a big market. Road Warrriors are not a big market. Nice to aim for if you're HTC, but not the route to 10m units sold. Yes, there are people who want to use it, but not nearly enough to matter. Re other WiFi...OpenZone for example.
I personally think 10m units in the UK is fanciful early up and at these prices....this is a smartphone level of machine at low end laptop/iPAQ pricing. Thus I believe the early adopters will be pro-sumers - and that by and large means SoHo/SME as well as the Apple fans As to Skype, it is also hugely used by students, kids, families etc etc. Tell 3Uk that Skype is a minority sport, the Skypephone is not aimed at the high end. |
