What's a newsmaker, Alan? Take a look at a typical comments thread on the BBC or even Comment is Free. If that is 'newsmaking', spare me.
I find it hard to believe that world culture and knowledge is significantly impoverished as a result of this sort of carry-on not being scraped by rival search engines. The citation index point is rather moot - I don't believe comments on news aggregators would carry much weight there anyway, and I might be crucified for saying so, but, 'rightly so'.

(as I understand it the USP is the people in the story (rather than the Great Unwashed) get to comment on Google and that is the unscrapeable bit. |
