good post Alan. I have watched many DRM businesses fail over the years and I share your feeling that the whole idea is flawed.
as the price of content heads towards zero that is becoming truer than ever. content based experiences (like cinema) and ads are the models going forward IMHO.
I love your blog Alan and this is a great post.
I personally have pledged to never ever ever (i am not being dramatic) buy music or movies until A) I own them, B) the price is consistent to the value. (A) is the most important part and the hook upon which I hang my hat. If I get a license, DRM**, a root kit, low quality fidelity, etc then I just won't buy. Its just that simple. As well I think there are so many different ways to package the media products to add value and induce us consumers to pony up extra dosh (money) its just crazy to see the opportunities wasted. Just my two thoughts and thanks again for the great post. |
