It would be a sad day if Tweetdeck et. al. began looking (or working) like Outlook
But I'll agree that some additional functionality will be necessary, for some users. The beauty is that users will be able to "opt-in" to functionality by using additional skins and products layered on top of the Twitter stack to create the type of experience they want, instead of being handed the full beast of Outlook and similar email client (web and desktop).
Well, they'd look a bit daft if he didn't and they then acquired Twitter later on, wouldn't they?
