Thanks for flagging Alan, so refreshing and salutary to see these stats laid out, and so counter-intuitive for some

There is no extra productivity. People (even me) like work - we like having a purpose and getting down to the real nitty gritty. But I reckon there’s about 20-40 hours a week* of that in all of us, depending on how creative, clever and original you are supposed to be. You are naturally programmed to create a certain amount of real work. After that, you do busy work, “research”, find work for other people, do pointless admin shit and piss about." Vive la revolution (But I'd still like to see some stats that include China et al - is their edge one that will soon end up exhausted when the market there reaches its zenith, is saturated and the novelty wears off? Will they (or we) be having the same debate in 5 or 10 years time, because the years will soon fly by... Is it pointless even trying to pre-empt it? Hmmm...) |
