It WAS extremely predictable - even to a lay person like me - so it's best to avoid the black swan analogy. Perhaps better is "elephant in room".
I have a title from an early 2008 mashable post to put this all in context: "FriendFeed for iPhone Coming - I’ve Waited For This All My Life ..."
Jof, if anything it seemed more predictable to non financiers and financial journos - publicly anyway
Hmmm. Because we've been round the block a few times and are hence a bit more grounded (shocker!) at Chinwag, we've been tracking the effect of the downturn in the economy on the UK's digital sector since March this year with a confidence index for the sector based on a running monthly survey of people in the biz - Digital Pulse http://www.chinwag.com/digitalpulse - but much as we'd like to, our lack of time means we haven't had the freedom to sex it up much. But then again, the underlying non-shiny truth isn't always the type of thing that goes viral
The last Quarterly in-depth analysis is here (http://tinyurl.com/5jpc2z) More generally, in terms of analysis, I downloaded the intro chapter to George Soros's book 'The Credit Crisis Of 2008 And What It Means' (http://www.georgesoros.com/) a couple of months back but still not wholly convinced... have you read it or the whole book? Thoughts? |
