Your first hypothesis is actually the correct one. We got a lot of blind support (ahem) for OtherIndox and Akoha. I think that does show they have a lot of active supporters which is a good thing. However we also have some more work to do our market algorithm to reduce that impact.
Stripping out the blind support Yammer would have been second favorite (and was one of my picks).
Hi Nigel,
Great job on the HubDub service and prediction market. Our fans had a lot of fun with this. Part of the reason we had a lot of supporters out of the gate was a small but passionate group of playtesters who were invited into the Akoha game 12 days before we attended TC50. (They were under NDA to help us honor the TC50 embargo) We held a playtester event where we had about 300 friends of the company give us feedback and start to play our game. http://flickr.com/photos/akoha/sets/72157607093960754/ When they found out we were presenting, we spread the word about your prediction market and they shared their enthusiasm. The OtherInbox team made a smart move to offer priority access to their beta for people who contacted them on Twitter and said they had voted. Your prediction market became a great way for both Akoha and OtherInbox to engage our communities and was a great addition to the TC50 event. Thanks, -Austin Hill (Executive Instigator/CEO of Akoha)
Nigel, that is true. What impressed me was that HubDub predicted 3 out of 5, not bad at all. I'll make that point in the main story.
Hi Austin,
The amount of support you got I thought was a really good sign and an indicator that you had a good chance for best in show. Obviously the decision process for best in show are pretty opaque. BTW I've signed up to Akoha. Looking forward to getting my start pack. |
