I have the similar problem. I contacted CNN and they told me that this is spam, and has no relation to them.
It's really very annoying and I have no idea how to stop this spam from coming. Alexander.
Guys,
it's phish. They are spamming you in order to annoy you in order to make you klick on the link (which will probably an iFrame that is trying to perform a drive by infection) to then have you give away your standard login credentials (as they are figuring that most of us will use the same user/pazz on a lot of different websites). Funny, that all those mailfilters can't stop it.
gmail and Eudora does catch it all as spam
gamil also catches it as a fake emails and warns not to click If you look carefully at some of the links - DO NOT CLICK THEM - you will see they go to a site in Russia
It's pretty easy to create a filter for these in just about any email client, because they all seem to have the exact same wording CNN Alerts in the subject line. Just make your email client move such messages to junk folder.
If you think you'll be getting some legit email from CNN with the same subject, expand the rule to not have @cnn.com in the sender's address, as these spam messages seem to have random sender addresses. |
